Beyond parabolic weld bead models: AI-based 3D reconstruction of weld beads under transient conditions in wire-arc additive manufacturing

The ability to predict the geometry of weld bead plays a key role in accurate path planning and determination welding parameters wire arc additive manufacturing. However, little attention has been paid its prediction when deposition is not straight. Thus, this work focuses on 3D reconstruction based path. One main findings paper that shape changes from symmetrical cross-section straight portions an asymmetrical non-straight regions. To bead, AI-based architecture called AIBead was developed. A suitable parametrization proposed train properly outperform currently used parabolic models.
